Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist medical and scientific advice to nominated internal teams to support the appropriate use of Pfizer medicines and implementation of initiatives and programs.
  • Offer medical and scientific support to healthcare professionals and professional bodies through scientific communications and clinical research support, bridging Pfizer and the healthcare community.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to effectively communicate and manage drug safety issues.
  • Build and develop peer-to-peer relationships with leading healthcare professionals and specialists.
  • Understand customer insights regarding current standard of care and communicate the value of Pfizer's medicines.
  • Acquire and maintain in-depth scientific knowledge of Pfizer medicines and key competitors within nominated therapy areas.
  • Deliver the medical plan, including medical projects, Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR), and support for Pfizer-sponsored clinical research.
  • Deliver other key medical and scientific activities, such as generating real-world evidence and supporting non-interventional studies, ensuring timely publication of data.
  • Provide medical/scientific input into protocol feasibility assessments for clinical trial proposals.
  • Identify appropriate investigators/sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with clinical research colleagues to drive timely completion of Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Provide input to regional and global clinical teams to ensure trial designs are relevant to UK needs, leveraging customer and patient insights.
  • Support the implementation of compassionate use and named patient supply programs.
  • Provide high-quality, accurate, balanced, and specific information to customers in response to unsolicited requests.
  • Provide scientific insight and support to commercial colleagues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop impactful and compliant promotional and non-promotional materials.
  • Review (and certify where applicable) promotional and non-promotional materials and activities within the scope of the ABPI Code of Practice.
  • Ensure customer intelligence is integrated into the organization to shape future strategy and leverage business opportunities.
  • Manage local advisory boards to gain customer insights.
  • Present the scientific perspective on selected topics during media briefings if media-trained.
  • Support Access & Value in providing medical support for HTA dossiers and regional/local formularies.
  • Support Regulatory Affairs in responding to agency questions and implementing changes to product documentation.
  • Provide support for clinical overviews, core datasheet revisions, license variations, and Risk Management Plans.
  • Support Medical Information to maintain an accurate database for responding to customer inquiries.
  • Provide scientific input to other departments (e.g., Government Affairs, Stakeholder Strategy) on a project-by-project basis.
  • Provide specialist ABPI Code compliance support for customer engagement and partnership activities.
  • Develop and maintain cross-functional working relationships with Pfizer colleagues.

Requirements

  • Metabolic medicine / obesity experience required.
  • Medical Affairs experience.
  • Fluency in Business English.
  • Medical, Pharmacy, or Science degree.
  • For medical applicants, GMC registration with a License to Practice is preferred. Doctors registered outside the UK may be considered with significant pharmaceutical industry experience and/or UK NHS work experience.
  • For pharmacy applicants, UK registration is preferred. Pharmacists registered outside the UK may be considered with significant pharmaceutical industry experience and/or UK NHS work experience.
  • For scientists, a postgraduate science degree (e.g., PhD, MSc) is preferred. Scientists without a postgraduate degree may be considered with significant pharmaceutical industry experience and/or significant experience within a related specialty.
