About the Role
Clearway Energy Group is a leader in the clean energy transition, developing and operating renewable energy projects across the U.S. We are seeking a motivated Analyst, Resource Planning & Grid Integration to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Grid Integration, this role is pivotal in managing and supporting the development and integration of Clearway’s project pipeline. You will work at the intersection of our development pipeline and the large load customer pipeline (e.g., data centers), driving the commercialization of multi-technology complexes powered by large loads and electrification.
What You'll Do
- Lead the resource planning and interconnection processes for both generator and load requests, coordinating with Development, Origination, and the Digital Infrastructure Working Team.
- Align regulatory and offtake-customer timelines with project delivery schedules.
- Create and expand strategic offerings based on regulatory constructs, demand signals, and market fundamentals.
- Monitor, assess, and influence FERC and ISO/RTO tariffs, market design, and policies to identify risks and opportunities.
- Assist Origination teams with contracting, negotiation, and structuring of generation and data center deals, focusing on settlement mechanisms and transmission interconnection risks.
- Design and model multi-technology complexes (wind, solar, energy storage) to provide carbon-free energy, high-capacity value, and timeline certainty to large load customers.
- Evaluate new technologies like Long Duration Energy Storage and lead diligence for their integration.
- Track and influence data center tariff proceedings at state public utility commission levels.
- Represent Clearway in regulatory proceedings, working groups, and commission engagements.
- Engage and manage consultants for energy modeling, resource optimization, regulatory policy, and strategy.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of market drivers and industry trends in the Digital Infrastructure and Electrification space.
- Support the Business Development team with M&A opportunities aligned with Digital Infrastructure initiatives.
- Support projects through financing diligence efforts.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of related power systems modeling, transmission planning, or grid integration experience.
- Experience with power system analytical tools such as PSS®E, TARA, PSLF, and Power World.
- Working knowledge of the general FERC interconnection process and specific requirements for MISO, ERCOT, SPP, PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO.
- Excellent knowledge of interconnection study procedures, including power flow, short circuit, and dynamic studies.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- General knowledge of technical standards applicable to project interconnection design.
What Would Be Nice
- Master’s-level degree in engineering, business, finance, law, or public policy.
- 2-4 years of applicable experience in the U.S. renewable energy industry, including project lifecycle development and commercialization.
- Knowledge of energy policy and customer/market signals impacting renewable project development in major markets (CAISO, WECC, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE).
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and tariffs related to electric transmission, generation, and interconnection.
- Experience formulating digital infrastructure strategy for a developer/owner-operator of utility-scale generation projects.
- Experience with energy and financial modeling.
