Senior Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Program

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major, multi-phase data center construction program. This critical role serves as the day-to-day client interface, delivering exceptional cost management services for a large-scale campus development. About the Role:
This position offers the opportunity to lead and deliver value-added cost management services for a significant data center program. You will provide leadership, direction, and embed the company's values while managing complex cost aspects of the project. The role requires a blend of independent work and collaboration, ensuring client objectives are met with service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cost plans and estimates through all project phases.
  • Produce and present monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and funding information.
  • Coordinate cost data from all project stakeholders for validation.
  • Compile built cost records for benchmarking.
  • Review contractor/subcontractor pricing and lead commercial negotiations.
  • Manage change orders, cost variances, commitment logs, and contingency.
  • Support cost risk analysis and scenario planning.
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and scope integration with project controls.
  • Contribute to procurement strategy and scope alignment.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day client interface.
  • Prepare commentary on contractor submissions and provide cost estimate updates.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, design partners, and stakeholders.
  • Inform engineering and design priorities based on cost considerations.
  • Lead value engineering (VE) sessions.
  • Provide insights into market trends and cost drivers.
  • Implement and maintain Turner & Townsend’s Business Management Systems.
  • Manage financial aspects including margin tracking and forecasting.
  • Mentor and support junior team members.
  • Promote a high-performance culture.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5–7+ years of relevant experience in construction cost management on medium to large-scale projects.
  • Industry: Data center construction experience, or experience in mission-critical, high-tech, industrial, or semiconductor facilities is strongly preferred.
  • Consulting: Construction consulting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of cost planning, procurement, commercial management, value management, and value engineering.
  • Professional: RICS accreditation or progress toward certification is preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Software: Proficiency with industry-standard cost management tools and software.
