Associate Statistical Programmer at Flatiron Health

Join Flatiron Health and reimagine the infrastructure of cancer care. We are seeking a motivated Associate Statistical Programmer, proficient in R, to contribute to our mission of improving and extending lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer.

About the Role:

As an Associate Statistical Programmer in the Research Sciences (RS) department, you will primarily support the Custom Solutions and Services (CSS) team. This team delivers customized real-world data and evidence solutions to life sciences partners, addressing critical research questions in clinical development, market access, and commercial use cases.

What You'll Do:

  • Translate statistical analysis plan specifications into R code to create analytic datasets, generate statistics, and produce visualizations, in consultation with senior programmers and principal investigators.
  • Develop expertise in Flatiron's diverse data modalities, including EHR-derived real-world data, clinico-genomics data, and claims data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in our medical and scientific organization to execute client-sponsored research studies accurately and efficiently.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Flatiron’s proprietary analytical tooling and templates.
  • Deepen your understanding of real-world data and methodologies for generating real-world evidence.

Who You Are:

  • Core Traits: Kind, passionate, collaborative, analytical, and an excellent communicator.
  • Experience/Education:
  • Doctorate degree (PhD, ScD, DrPH) in Biostatistics/Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Math, or a closely related field with no industry experience.
  • OR Master’s degree with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Programming Skills: Excellent R programming skills (including tidyverse) and comfort working in Git-based environments (e.g., Github, Gitlab).
  • Data Experience: Experience with large healthcare-related datasets (e.g., administrative claims, electronic medical records).
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational, time-management, prioritization, and decision-making skills to manage multiple high-visibility projects.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, diverse, and matrix environment.
  • Learning Agility: Capacity to quickly learn and apply new information, skills, and procedures.
  • Mission Alignment: Passionate about improving healthcare through technology.

Extra Credit:

  • Experience working with oncology datasets.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical/HEOR consulting environment.
