Job Description: Accountant

Department: Client Services
Location: India

Job Summary:

Provide timely and high-quality service and deliverables to leading private equity and funds clients under supervisor guidance. Focus on consistent results through preparation of core processes, low complexity ad-hoc work, and minimal client requirements. Perform self-reviews to gain insights into strengths and areas for development.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and complete Net Asset Value (NAV) and Financials for private equity funds, including journal entries, monthly/quarterly/annual financials, payment processing, investor notices, and client reporting.
• Prepare and complete capital call and distribution workings, along with notices and releases to investors.
• Assist with the conversion of Private Equity Funds to Investran.
• Assist with onboarding new Private Equity Funds onto accounting platforms (Investran, Paxus).
• Support all reporting requirements, including financial statements, working papers, management accounts, partner statements, and ad-hoc client deliverables.
• Assist with various accounting and administration processes in accordance with IQ-EQ India Global Client Delivery policies and procedures.

Core Responsibilities:

• Prepare Financial Statements with Disclosures, NAV reporting, and other ad-hoc service requests for funds and/or corporate clients.
• Ensure all deliverables are timely and accurate.
• Acquire knowledge of designated clients' requirements and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance by following procedures and checklists adhering to SSAE and other statutory requirements.
• Proactively seek adequate training, feedback, and support.
• Guide new peers and junior team members on client specifics and deliverables.

Tasks & Duties:

Cluster Client Delivery:

• Work closely with the NAV team and review their reports.
• Handle liaison administration activities.
• Understand client agreements, Scope of Work (SOW), SLAs, and other necessary information.
• Ensure complete information and supporting documents are received; acknowledge or escalate completeness issues.
• Deliver consistent, quality information within agreed timeframes.
• Prepare, complete, and ensure the quality of assigned client deliverables.
• Be knowledgeable with the components of reports generated by appropriate platforms.
• Review outputs and all other prepared deliverables.
• Address review comments.
• Take ownership and respond to cluster/client/investor queries within 24 hours.
• Escalate job-related issues and concerns promptly.
• Provide support to the rest of the team and other teams as needed.
• Act as an alternate for Senior Accountants or Assistant Managers based on business needs.
• Consolidate queries, requirements, and comments from the client; research and validate team interpretations with the technical team.

Workflow Management:

• Ensure timesheets are completed daily and accurately.
• Set up, monitor, update, and close all deliverables via the workflow planner.

Systems:

• Understand and use best practices on accounting and reporting platforms.

Risks:

• Ensure adherence to relevant procedures, checklists, and SSAE requirements.
• Report breaches, complaints, or errors promptly.
• Assist in preparing error reports, identifying operational risks, and proposing remedial actions within 24 hours of identification.

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Education/Professional Qualifications: Graduate of accounting or any business-related course.
• Experience: 2+ years of relevant accounting experience. Fundamental knowledge of IndAS, IFRS, and GAAPs of different jurisdictions (US, UK, Lux). Experience preparing Financial Statements using applicable laws and regulations.
• Languages: Fluency in English and an additional foreign language.
• Background Experience: Knowledgeable in preparing working paper files, financial statements with disclosures, and other financial information. Operational experience in fund accounting services, preferably in handling private equity.
• Technical Skills: Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, IF functions).
• Computer/Program Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office (email, word processing, video conferencing). Effective written and verbal intermediate communication skills. Experience with accounting software (Investran/Paxus).

• Desire to complete CPA qualification (if applicable).
• Experience in Financial Services or Shared Services environment.

• University Degree in Accountancy or other accounting-related courses.
