Technologies We Use

Our primary stack includes Ruby (Ruby on Rails) for the backend, and Javascript (ES6) with React/Redux for the frontend. We utilize a MariaDB cluster for storage, and extensively use Elasticsearch, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, and Memcached. Our CI is managed by Github Actions, and we employ tools like Sentry, NewRelic, and Grafana for monitoring.

How You'll Contribute to Skroutz's Vision

We are seeking a Software Engineer with a strong technical background and a "get-things-done" attitude to join our Partners Experience Support Engineering team. This team is responsible for a state-of-the-art platform that empowers merchants to grow their businesses. We build services, products, and processes focused on increasing merchants' Gross Merchandise Value and streamlining their daily operations. Our teams collaborate closely with Operations, Partners Support, Marketplace, and other engineering teams to ensure an excellent experience and growth opportunities for our sellers. With tens of thousands of orders processed daily, we handle exceptional cases and develop new tooling and automations to enhance team productivity and autonomy.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Write Ruby scripts to manage exceptional order cases that cannot be handled by existing support tools.
  • Implement new or missing order-handling tools within our Rails backoffice.
  • Introduce automations via scheduled rake tasks and callbacks for issues previously handled manually.
  • Debug and fix problematic purchase flows reported by users, or report them to other engineering teams.
  • Handle integration issues with third-party service providers, such as courier services.
  • Review and provide feedback on procedures in coordination with other Engineering teams.
  • Review Pull Requests from other engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Software/Support Engineer.
  • A solid Computer Science background.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • AI-native mindset: Proficiency in using AI coding assistants and LLMs to streamline development.
  • Good communication skills and team spirit.

We Appreciate If You Have

  • Knowledge of Ruby/Ruby on Rails.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems (relational, document-based, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
