About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to work on our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for the systems that ingest, process, store, and serve vast amounts of data, including over 250 million academic papers. This role is crucial for optimizing search functionality and ensuring reliable data delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines for ingesting and processing academic papers and user data.
• Optimize search infrastructure for fast and relevant results.
• Manage and scale systems for handling large volumes of PDF data.
• Develop and expose clean APIs for data access.
• Ensure the reliability and performance of our data infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with a focus on data engineering, search, or infrastructure.
• Experience with large-scale data processing and storage systems.
• Proficiency in relevant backend programming languages and database technologies.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience optimizing search engines and handling large datasets.
