About the Role

Join Fortune Brands' Product Development & Innovation team as an Associate Product Development Engineer. You will collaboratively improve existing product designs to enhance robustness and cost-effectiveness using engineering best practices. You will also contribute to defining overall product platform designs and rules, managing product development from ideation through launch. Using analytical and empirical engineering methods, you will ensure product designs meet User, Business, and Compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative new products and extend current product lines.
• Collaborate with team members to develop capable, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes concurrent to product design activities.
• Perform problem-solving and failure analysis using engineering analysis tools.
• Actively participate in Design Reviews / DFM / DFA for new products.
• Proactively compile, prepare, and present data for timely project updates and technical presentations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience with 3D modeling CAD software.
• Self-motivated and works well in a collaborative design culture.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Desire to work hands-on, prototype, and troubleshoot proactively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior Co-op / Internship experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks and/or 3DX.
• Exposure to Failure Analysis, FEA, DRBFM, FMEA, DOE, and DFMA.
• Ability to apply engineering principles (fluid, mechanical, thermal).
• Interpretation of statistics related to manufacturing processes and part design.
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Tolerance stack-up and analysis.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hiring Pay Range: $55,000 USD - $88,000 USD. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as education, training, experience, business need, and location.
