About the Team (Arene Applied Engineering)

The Arene team aims to simplify vehicle software development, enabling a new market of vehicle application developers. We are working closely with Toyota to realize this goal in its next-generation vehicles. The Applied Engineering Team supports the development and validation of Arene products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain reusable Verification & Validation (V&V) frameworks, tools, and test infrastructure, primarily in Python and C++.
  • Translate product and system requirements into comprehensive test strategies, plans, and detailed test cases across multiple levels (unit, integration, system, qualification).
  • Lead the design, rehearsal, execution, and reporting of V&V campaigns for North America-led products and features.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements to test results in JAMA and related tools, maintaining audit-ready V&V evidence.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) to enforce quality thresholds and gate releases.
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Platform, VSDK, DevKit, and other Arene teams to select appropriate test environments (simulation, emulation, HIL, on-vehicle) and debug complex failures.
  • Write clear, structured V&V documentation, including test plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Mentor engineers on testability, V&V best practices, and CI-driven quality.
  • Mentor other engineers on code best practices, architecture, and development.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment working closely with operating systems, compute hardware, sensors, and vehicles, while coordinating with global stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development and/or V&V, with a strong track record in test automation and CI-driven quality.
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation; experience with C++ for low-level or performance-critical testing.
  • Hands-on experience designing and executing tests in simulated, emulated, and hardware environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) that run tests and enforce quality gates.
  • Strong understanding of integration, system, and qualification testing, coverage, and defect triage.
  • Ability to operate autonomously across multiple teams, manage ambiguity, and drive alignment with stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to write clear documentation and present strategies and results.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with automotive software development and/or software-defined vehicles.
  • Experience with containerization and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded systems.
  • Experience with requirements and test management tools (e.g., JAMA, Jira).
  • Experience defining or contributing to V&V practices or test strategies at the team or organization level.

What We Offer:

  • Excellent health, wellness, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Rewarding 401k program.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Family planning and care benefits.
