Business Analyst / Product Owner

About the Role

As a Business Analyst / Product Owner, you will act as a crucial liaison between clients and our software delivery teams. You will provide subject matter expertise, guide development, and translate business needs into functional specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, requirements gathering, and the ability to drive the development of high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between the client's business organization and software delivery teams.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to guide the development and implementation of business solutions.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and interviews to capture business needs accurately.
  • Translate requirements into functional design specifications, user stories, use cases, and business process flows.
  • Manage and prioritize requirements in collaboration with product management and cross-functional teams.
  • Adjust requirements based on timeline, complexity, and business drivers.
  • Groom and prioritize work with Business and Technical teams to ensure effective communication and delivery.
  • Define and document business dependencies and understand system intricacies.
  • Analyze complex business processes, identify automation opportunities, and reengineer processes.
  • Perform data mapping and define integration aspects between platforms.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan and prioritize tasks, resources, and timelines.
  • Identify, document, track, and communicate risks, assumptions, issues, and decisions.
  • Document feature sets and work with Quality Assurance to validate system functionality.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions and ensure successful operations handoff.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Work with a high level of independence and initiative, adjusting daily workloads to meet competing priorities.
  • Participate in status meetings and other project leadership activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst or in a relevant role.
  • Knowledge of Web and Mobile based platforms and experience working with APIs.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Experience in creating mockups, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Experience in leading/facilitating requirement meetings.
  • Knowledge of basic documentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Experience Desired

  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Previous hands-on quality assurance background with full-cycle testing experience.
  • Scrum training and/or certifications.
  • Certifications such as CBAP or PMI-PBA are a plus.
  • Experience with Business Process Management (BPM) Solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for reports, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts.
  • Proven experience in database hardware, software, standards, and data retrieval methodologies.
  • Proficient in using business analysis tools (Microsoft Visio, Excel, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Excellent understanding of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Logical and efficient with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to research systems issues and products.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.

  • Self-Starter: Adapts to changes, takes initiative to learn, and shares skills.
