Why Charlie Health?

Charlie Health is dedicated to connecting people with life-saving behavioral health treatment. We offer personalized, virtual care for mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and eating disorders, addressing barriers to care and driving better outcomes from home. As a rapidly growing organization, we are redefining behavioral health treatment and seeking a team that wants to drive lasting change.

About the Role:

Charlie Health leads the nation in high-acuity virtual behavioral care. The Therapist Success team builds the platform that powers this care, creating tools that provide therapists with the right information at the right time. You will develop systems that organize client history, surface dynamic summaries, and provide playbooks for sessions, ultimately bringing structure to clinical data, strengthening quality, and making care more effective. If you care about building tools that empower therapists, this is the team for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality, performant, maintainable features using our core technology stack: React, Python, and PostgreSQL.
  • Set strong patterns for the growing team, supported by modern AI tools for rapid development at scale.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional team of software engineers, driving design, development, and delivery while fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Leverage AI and Machine Learning to enhance client and clinician-facing tools, transforming them into an industry-leading platform.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to iterate on top-notch product solutions.
  • Work on mission-critical features to engage potential clients and connect them with mental health care.
  • Own and evolve engineering processes at the team level, contributing to setting and improving how the team works.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure clients can always access care.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of professional experience developing user-facing web or mobile applications.
  • Expertise and hands-on production experience with an application programming language, preferably Python.
  • Masterful ability to break down big, messy problems into smaller parts with tractable solutions and clear iterations.
  • Meaningful scope within an application engineering team, with experience making or contributing to important technical trade-off decisions.
  • Experience developing high-quality code leveraging modern AI tooling (e.g., using Claude Code).
  • Growth mindset, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a sense of humor.
  • Note: Candidates located within a 75-minute commute of our NYC office are expected to work onsite 4 days/week.

Benefits:

Charlie Health offers comprehensive benefits to all full-time employees. (Details available on their careers page).

Compensation:

The total target base compensation for this role is between $195,000–$255,000 per year. Pay will be determined by location, experience, leveling, expertise, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. The total compensation package may also include stock options and other benefits.

Our Values:

  • Connection: Care deeply & inspire hope.
  • Congruence: Stay curious & heed the evidence.
  • Commitment: Act with urgency & don’t give up.
