Salary Range: $63,400 - $79,000 annually

The Opportunity

Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS), a subsidiary of CannonDesign, is seeking an energetic Facility Condition Assessor to join our growing team. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy travel and dislike desk-bound work, focusing on conducting facility condition assessments of electrical and low-voltage systems for diverse building types across the US, including healthcare, education, municipal, and commercial facilities. Projects are typically short-term (one to six months), with field deployments usually lasting one week, not exceeding two per month.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site facility assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team, evaluating electrical and low-voltage systems in existing buildings.
  • Assess systems including emergency power, photovoltaic, fire alarm, security, data communication, and surveillance.
  • Work efficiently with client and on-site personnel, maintaining an average daily walk rate of 125-250k square feet.
  • Determine the condition, remaining useful life, required costs, and remedial measures for electrical and low-voltage systems.
  • Provide technical identification and description of deficiencies, ranging from minor concerns to critical issues.
  • Identify and describe recommendations for correction with sufficient technical detail for future project planning and cost estimating.
  • Interview building operations and maintenance staff to gather historical and operational information.
  • Prepare project progress documentation for project manager review.
  • Review the work of peers and participate in post-project reviews.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
  • Direct experience in conducting architectural facility condition assessments strongly preferred.
  • Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
  • Prior cost estimating experience is valued but not required.
  • Registration, licensure, or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; aptitude for tablet and mobile device usage.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision, Adobe Suite, and Bluebeam is valued but not required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments.
  • Physical ability: Capable of walking stated areas daily, climbing ladders (fixed and extension), and walking on roof surfaces up to a 3/12 slope.
