The Role

We are seeking a results-driven Field Sales Manager to manage the East Midlands territory. This role is responsible for driving business development and sales of Hill's Prescription Diet, Science Plan, and VetEssentials brands. You will play a crucial part in educating veterinarians, animal care providers, and pet store staff about our products through technical training and presentations. This position requires a proactive approach to developing commercial business plans and programs for customers, as well as representing Hill's at industry events.

Responsibilities

Clinic / Store Business Development:

  • Develop deep understanding of customer businesses and build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Provide professional support including detailing, in-clinic/store seminars, technical training, and merchandising.
  • Identify opportunities and develop technical and business propositions to meet customer and Hill's needs.
  • Implement commercial activities to ensure product awareness, distribution, and endorsement by veterinary professionals and pet store staff.
  • Drive rapid acceptance and distribution of new products, establish shelf space, and ensure adequate inventory.
  • Implement merchandising and practice protocols to Hill's standards.
  • Increase recruitment of new users to Hill's brands through active recommendations and trial programs.
  • Develop and implement annual joint business/action plans for key accounts.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key customers to assess results and adjust plans.

Territory Management:

  • Achieve territory sales targets.
  • Plan and execute territory call value based on account classification.
  • Maintain accurate and timely call reports and records.
  • Identify and secure new accounts within the territory.
  • Leverage company tools to drive execution.

Business & Financial Management:

  • Monitor territory objectives against targets and develop strategies to address business environment changes.
  • Manage assigned budget and ensure timely submission of payment requests and T&E expenses.

Product Knowledge:

  • Develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in small animal nutrition, Hill's, and competitor products.

Meetings & Conferences:

  • Represent Hill's at various industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitive activity.

Requirements

  • Relevant training or experience as a veterinarian/nurse is advantageous.
  • Experience in customer and business development.
  • Results-Driven: Goal-oriented with a proven track record of effective execution and hitting KPIs.
  • Strong Communicator: Confident, positive, and persuasive, with excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Relationship Builder: A natural collaborator focused on customer needs.
  • Organised: Strong planning and priority-setting skills for managing a busy field schedule independently.
