Job Description
We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Expert specializing in Edge Computing to join our team. You will serve as the key end-customer contact for solution design and technical concept creation for Edge computing clients. This senior technical expert role involves the design and implementation of Edge computing technologies, defining cluster technologies for production, and preparing installation plans. You will lead installations, testing, and manage multiple technicians across various layers (OS, network, middleware, application). Your responsibilities include performing and improving complex 3rd level activities, designing, developing, and supporting Edge computing components and applications to meet T-Systems quality standards. You will also build concepts for automation, optimization, and standardization, provide technical consultation, and implement innovative technologies aligned with T-Systems' innovation strategy. Mentoring less experienced colleagues and acting as a key technical lead are also integral parts of this role.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the key end-customer contact for planning solution design and creating technical concepts for Edge computing customers.
- Act as a senior technical expert responsible for the design and implementation of Edge computing technologies.
- Define technologies for Edge computing clusters to be implemented for production, aligning with customer expectations and roadmap definitions.
- Create Edge cluster designs, prepare cabling plans, lead installations, and oversee testing and technicians across multiple layers (OS/network/middleware/application).
- Perform, coordinate, and improve complex 3rd level activities to provide IT services and supporting infrastructure, fulfilling relevant KPIs.
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support Edge computing components and applications to deliver T-Systems' quality standard cloud product portfolio.
- Build and develop concepts, processes, and methods for automation, optimization, and standardization to meet T-Systems efficiency and automation requirements.
- Provide technical advice and information to employees and customers regarding Edge computing products.
- Consult, propose, and implement new innovative technologies to align with T-Systems' Edge computing innovation strategy.
- Design, develop, and implement architecture services based on T-Systems Edge computing platform requirements.
- Mentor and lead less skilled colleagues to foster their potential and development.
- Act as a key technical lead, solving and coordinating activities across related technologies and teams.
- Actively participate in research & development, determine business requirements, propose changes, and develop implementation plans.
Qualifications
- Advanced skills in Linux operating systems (preferably Ubuntu/Debian, SLES, or RedHat).
- Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, Firewall, DNS, WAN, VPN).
- Skilled in configuring Linux services (HTTP, DNS, DHCP, FTP).
- Experience with Open Stack or Open Shift is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Linux virtualization (KVM).
- Strong oversight of system administration operations.
- Experienced in Unix shell scripting.
- Overview of Middleware related technologies.
- Knowledge of server hardware to evaluate HW builds.
- 5-7 years of experience in a similar role; a valid certification in the relevant technology is an advantage.
- English C1 proficiency; optional German B1 is an advantage.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Experience with technical project leadership.
