Simprints, a nonprofit tech company dedicated to improving the delivery of vital services through accurate data and identity verification, is seeking an operational and detail-oriented Chief Operating Officer (Fractional/Part-Time). This role is crucial as Simprints enters a new phase of organizational scale and complexity, focusing on strengthening cross-functional execution, governance, and AI integration.

About the Role:
This is not a traditional management role but focuses on improving inter-functional operations. You will drive accountability, enhance decision-making clarity, integrate AI into operations, and support the leadership team's effectiveness. Working closely with the CEO and Management Team, you will act as an embedded executive operator, connecting strategy to execution and fostering organizational maturity without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Job Details:

• Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (Fractional/Part-Time)
• Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
• Grade: M9 (Executive)
• Location: Remote in GMT +/- 3 hours time zone
• Time Commitment: 2–3 days per week
• Compensation: £100,000–£120,000 FTE equivalent prorated based on agreed time commitment
• Contract Structure: Initial 3-6 month contract, with potential to continue long-term

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution:

• Chair weekly management team meetings, driving accountability and improving organizational clarity.
• Enhance operational decision-making clarity, delegated authority, and escalation pathways.
• Identify and resolve operational friction points and efficiency opportunities.
• Establish lightweight operational systems and processes.

1. Operational Governance & Compliance:

• Strengthen organizational maturity across governance, compliance, legal operations, and risk management.
• Improve strategy and execution around legal processes, country registrations, and operational risk.
• Manage data protection operational coordination.
• Improve visibility and tracking of governance-related initiatives.

1. AI Transformation:

• Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and operational productivity gains through AI.
• Help teams adopt practical AI-enabled operational workflows.

What Success Looks Like:

• First 30 Days: Build strong relationships, understand operational pain points, identify priority issues, and assess AI adoption opportunities.
• First 90 Days: Chair Management Team meetings, establish clearer decision-making pathways, launch governance initiatives, and initiate AI improvement pilots.
• First 180 Days: Significantly improve cross-functional execution, establish scalable operational systems, enhance governance maturity, and embed AI-enabled workflows.

What We're Looking For:

• Significant operational leadership experience within scaling startups, nonprofits, or technology companies.
• Experience as a COO, Chief of Staff, VP Operations, or equivalent senior role.
• Proven track record of driving cross-functional execution and operational clarity.
• Experience improving organizational systems, decision-making processes, and operational governance.
• Comfort chairing executive meetings and holding senior leaders accountable.
• Experience operationalizing AI tools and workflows.
• Optional: Experience in global health, international development, or nonprofit technology organizations; familiarity with international compliance.
