About the Role:
We are seeking a pragmatic, business-minded Senior Employment Counsel to be Roβs lead advisor on people-related matters. You will partner closely with our People, Legal, and business teams to advise on the full employee lifecycle, the use of AI in the workplace, and employee data privacy. You will also have opportunities to engage with commercial contracts and broader disputes.
What You'll Do:
- Provide clear, actionable advice on all aspects of the employee experience, including hiring, performance management, accommodations, investigations, and exits.
- Manage employment disputes and agency inquiries, including investigations, pre-litigation response, and outside counsel and insurance broker management.
- Advise on responsible, compliant use of AI tools in recruiting, performance management, and other employment contexts.
- Support Roβs workforce strategy, including worker classification, remote arrangements, and cross-border employment questions.
- Anticipate and track changes in relevant laws, providing practical updates and guidance.
- Work closely with our Privacy and Security teams on matters related to employee data.
- Work with the People team to maintain scalable policies, handbooks, templates, and training programs.
- Partner with the People team and outside counsel on benefits and equity questions.
- Step in on non-employment disputes or commercial agreements as time and interest allow.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 8+ years of employment law experience, including time in both a law firm and in-house in a related role.
- Comfort working across a wide range of matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent judgment and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience advising on the use of AI in the context of employment.
- Flexibility to take on adjacent work in commercial contracts and disputes.
- Experience advising a physician practice, hospital, or other care provider is strongly preferred.
- Experience advising on employee data privacy is preferred.

Compensation:
- Target Base Salary Range: $195,900 - $240,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package.
- Compensation is determined by factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Work Environment:
- Remote work flexibility across the United States.
- For employees in the tri-state (NY) area, HQ collaboration is required on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- In-person collaboration opportunities throughout the year for those outside the tri-state area.
