About the Role:

We are looking for an in-house technical expert to join us as a WordPress Architect. You will work closely with our developers, designers, project managers, and clients to architect and deliver exceptional websites and apps. This role requires a strong technical leader with modern WordPress expertise, particularly with the block editor and block themes. If you have 5+ years of WordPress development experience and a passion for technical leadership, we want to hear from you!

Day-to-Day Expectations:

  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and project managers.
  • Scope and architect technical solutions with internal and client teams.
  • Create technical documentation (specifications, scope documents) for internal use and clients.
  • Advise and manage teams to produce measurable results.
  • Take ownership of project success, including meeting requirements, timelines, and budgets (in partnership with project managers).

Required Skill Set:

  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of WordPress development experience.
  • Proven technical leadership experience.
  • Experience with enterprise-level projects.
  • Experience architecting large-scale solutions according to technical requirements.
  • Modern WordPress Expertise: Deep knowledge of the block editor and block themes. Experience primarily with third-party page builders or custom field plugins may not be suitable for this role.
  • Technical Skills: Broad technical experience including (but not limited to): core web technologies (HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, caching, SQL), NPM, Webpack, Docker, DevOps, Gitlab CI/CD, managed hosts (Pantheon, WP VIP).
  • Performance & Security: Expertise in performance optimization, bottleneck resolution, and architecting highly scalable WordPress solutions. Knowledge of WordPress security best practices and designing secure architectural solutions.
  • Community Involvement: Active involvement in the WordPress community (core contributions, plugin development, documentation, WordCamps/Meetups).
  • Continuous Learning: Curiosity and commitment to staying updated with the ecosystem, especially the Gutenberg project.
  • Client & Team Interaction: Proven experience working with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams on pre-sales scoping, project estimation, and solution refinement. Ability to prepare and conduct technical workshops.
  • Project Management: Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage concurrent projects. Experience using project management tools like Redmine or JIRA.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills in both French and English (though applications are welcome even if not fluent in both).
  • Mentorship: Ability to train technical and non-technical teams on solutions.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience defining and leading quality assurance processes, including automated testing strategies and test-driven development (TDD).
  • PHP development skills when necessary.
  • Drupal development experience.

  • Exceptional self-management and proactive communication skills.
