Job Description:
The Transcriber is responsible for transcribing and captioning news, specials, scripted programs, sports, and various other shows for Telemundo and NBC using text-to-speech programs and AI platforms. This role ensures accurate and high-quality closed captioning and subtitle files for broadcast, streaming platforms (Peacock, Netflix), and other distribution channels.

Job Duties:

• Write, timestamp, and perform quality control on all Telemundo closed captioning and subtitle files.
• Transcribe shows, promos, movies, and short videos in Spanish with 100% accuracy, including proper punctuation, accentuation, tenses, and free of spelling errors.
• Translate television programs, promotional material, films, and short videos, finding the most native interpretation in the target language without being literal.
• Perform quality control on text-only and text files with video (English and Spanish) to deliver a final text 100% free of grammatical or contextual errors.
• View videos on platforms to perform quality control of the final product.
• Prepare quality reports on external providers and internal product.
• Utilize software like Dragon Naturally Speaking, Stanza, or other AI text generators to transcribe or translate audio, accelerating processes.
• Deliver the final product using established workflows.
• Utilize subtitles created by internal or external transcribers or translators.
• Conduct proactive research on any unknown terms for transcription and translation.
• Work under the direct supervision of the Sr. Manager, Edit & Language Operations and complete any other assigned tasks.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:

• Fluent in English & Spanish (both written & verbal).
• Knowledgeable in Spanish Language standards and current grammatical rules established by La Real Academia de la Lengua Española.
• Exhibits knowledge of subtitle standards and closed captioning regulations by the FCC.
• Prior experience using technology (e.g., speech-to-text converters, AI programs like AWS) to accelerate translations and transcriptions.
• Minimum 2 years of prior/relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior experience with software like Stanza or others to add timestamps is preferred.

Additional Job Requirements:

• Must be willing to work in Colombia.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
• Hybrid work model: Requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
