Studio Game Artist Lead

Art Department Manager

What You Will Be Working On

Key Goal:
Manage and grow the art department across multiple projects, each with distinct identities and requirements. This involves defining team training and development strategies, evaluating performance, establishing a common vision and quality standards, and participating in recruitment.

Daily Responsibilities:

1. People Management:

  • Identify individual strengths and weaknesses to assign resources effectively to projects.
  • Prepare training and knowledge-sharing plans within the department.
  • Conduct artist performance evaluations and objective settings.
  • Manage the recruitment of new artist resources.

2. Process Improvements:

  • Harmonize studio processes, allowing for project-specific pipeline flexibility while facilitating faster onboarding and understanding of Gameloft-specific rules.
  • Update studio-wide documentation (PRD, career paths, onboarding, etc.).
  • Support individual projects in optimizing their art flow and pipelines.
  • Represent the studio internally and externally as the primary Art contact for Gameloft Hanoi.

3. Artistic Vision:

  • Conceptualize and execute creative ideas.
  • Develop compelling visuals.
  • Contribute to the overall artistic direction of the studio's projects.
  • Provide clear and detailed feedback to artists on visual quality (LOD, coloring, polishing, composition) and technical quality (perspective, tangency, PSD layering).

  • Collaborate closely with: Studio Manager, Production Manager.
  • Lead and mentor: Studio Artist Team.

What You Need to Succeed:

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in game art production with solid leadership experience across multiple projects and a track record of delivering high-quality visuals.
  • Well-rounded foundation in art composition, graphic design, and solid knowledge of 2D/3D pipelines and production workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and scale art teams, define artistic vision and quality standards, and align with game market trends.
  • Good communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to balance creative vision and technical constraints.
  • Good English skills.
