Senior Full-Stack Developer (Remote)

The Mission:
Founded in 1973, our trucking compliance business has evolved significantly from DOS systems to modern, web-based systems. We are seeking our first technical hire, a senior-level Full-Stack Developer, to own the entire product lifecycle of internal systems and external services. You will embed with our client service team to identify friction points, design solutions, and direct AI agents to execute builds, ensuring we have the tools and environment for optimal work.

The Stack & Your Technical Role:
While not every line of code will be written by hand, mastery of the craft is essential for validating, refactoring, and securing AI-generated code. Our current ecosystem includes:

• Core Apps: Ruby on Rails (FM22 fuel tax app), Laravel (authority filings), Express/React (Authority work order management).
• Data & Infra: PostgreSQL, Render, DigitalOcean, Airtable, Zapier, Make.
• Agent Orchestration: Claude, Cursor, and Codex for feature delivery and code quality assurance.

You will leverage AI tools, but your expertise will be crucial in shaping and directing the technology stack.

Core Responsibilities:

• Operational Deep-Dives: Embed with compliance teams (IFTA reporting, IRP Renewals, FMCSA Operating Authority) to understand workflows and identify areas for improvement.
• Build with Incremental Ambition: Prioritize shipping valuable features quickly over pursuing perfect, delayed solutions.
• System Design: Collaborate with a part-time architect on robust data models, scalable approaches, and API integrations.
• Design User-Friendly Frontends: Create intuitive and usable interfaces for our web applications.
• Testing & Deployment: Own the testing suite to ensure AI-generated code is maintainable, secure, and solves business problems before production deployment.
• Technical Documentation: Maintain high-quality, current technical documentation for efficient maintenance and enhancements.

About You:

• Proven track record of shipping production-grade software.
• Preference for hands-on work and practical problem-solving over theoretical discussions.
• Experience developing deep domain knowledge.
• "Stack-agnostic" mentality, comfortable working across Rails, Laravel, and Python.
• Tinkerer mindset with a bias for shipping, balanced with discipline for data security.
