About the Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the core services and SDKs that drive Speechify's product experience across all platforms. You will play a critical role in designing and implementing strategic systems that directly enhance our user experience.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with Speechify's Product Teams to define project scope, identify opportunities for faster customer feedback through scope reduction, and manage integration/UX trade-offs to deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
• Enhance existing functionalities by designing more efficient abstractions and improving algorithms to achieve faster loading times and more intelligent parsing.
• Develop and deploy cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• Systems Thinking: A strong ability to design end-to-end systems, valuing simplicity and efficiency.
• Speed & Agility: The capacity to generate ideas and options quickly, with the judgment to prioritize what can ship now versus what requires more development time.
• Focus: The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote startup environment, knowing when to engage and when to focus deeply.
• Collaboration: Proven skills in inspiring, negotiating, and working collaboratively with designers, marketers, and Product Managers.
• Preferred Tech Stack:
• Kotlin Multiplatform (experience with Java is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).
• Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
