Are you a full-stack developer experienced in building interactive web applications from end-to-end? Mindrift is looking for skilled Full-Stack Web App Developers to join our Tendem project (https://tendem.ai/). As an AI Pilot, you'll collaborate with AI agents, applying your full-stack engineering expertise to create functional, robust, and user-ready web applications within our hybrid AI + human environment.

About the Role

This is a freelance, part-time remote opportunity. As a Full-Stack Web App Developer (AI Pilot), you will design, build, and refine browser-based applications featuring complex logic, state management, persistence, and user input. You'll work on diverse projects, from habit trackers and budgeting tools to internal dashboards and AI-powered apps, potentially also developing standalone Python applications and data-processing scripts.

Key Responsibilities

• Build interactive web applications using modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue, or similar) and a backend API (Python/FastAPI/Flask or Node/Express).
• Design and implement data models, schemas, and persistence layers using SQL (PostgreSQL, SQLite) or NoSQL databases.
• Implement authentication, sessions, and basic role-based access control where necessary.
• Integrate third-party APIs and AI/LLM services (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) into product features.
• Manage state, user input validation, error states, and loading states effectively.
• Develop standalone Python tools and scripts for tasks such as data processing or API interaction.
• Evaluate and refactor AI-generated full-stack code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Write clear, testable code and debug end-to-end issues across frontend, backend, and database layers.

Requirements and Benefits

• Required: At least 3 years of relevant experience in full-stack web development or shipping interactive web applications.
• Required: A portfolio of shipped web applications.
• Required: Upper-intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher.
• Strong Foundation: Expertise in full-stack development, modern frontend frameworks, backend architecture, and building interactive browser-based applications end-to-end.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, or similar).
• Solid backend experience in Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and/or Node.js (Express, NestJS).
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) and basic schema design.
• Experience implementing REST APIs, request validation, error handling, and authentication flows.
• Deployment: Familiarity with deployment platforms (e.g., Vercel, Netlify, Render, Fly.io, Railway).
• Bonus: Experience integrating LLM APIs or other AI services into product features.
• Practices: Comfortable with version control (Git) and basic testing practices.
• Qualities: Strong attention to detail, commitment to building robust products, and a self-directed work ethic capable of architecting and shipping features independently.
• Education (Plus): Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical fields.

Project Time Expectations

Tasks are estimated to require around 10–20 hours per week during active project phases. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload.

Compensation

Contributors can earn up to $35 per hour equivalent, depending on their level and pace of contribution. Compensation varies across projects.
