Senior Fullstack Developer (m/f/d) - AI Native

ZEP is shaping the future of work for over 3,000 companies in the German SME sector. We are currently rebuilding our next product generation from scratch (Laravel/Vue.js/Inertia) and simultaneously developing new AI products that fundamentally rethink project work. For this, we are seeking a Senior Fullstack Developer (m/f/d) who not only knows AI but lives it. For you, Claude Code and agents are not experiments but your daily tools. You build in hours what others take days for. You understand that modern software development today arises from the combination of masterful code excellence and AI leverage. You think holistically about applications, from backend to frontend to user experience, integrating AI functionality not as a feature, but as an architectural principle.

Responsibilities

• Develop the next ZEP product generation as a Senior Fullstack Developer (Laravel backend, Vue.js with Inertia frontend).
• Co-create our new AI products and build agentic workflows.
• Make architectural decisions for a scalable, AI-driven platform, from data models to APIs.
• Incrementally modernize existing structures, driving AI-assisted migration from the legacy PHP system to the new platform.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and actively promote best practices within the squad.
• Act as a sparring partner for developers, UI/UX designers, Product Managers, and the Co-CEO on technical and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

Experience and Mindset:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in web or fullstack development, ideally in B2B SaaS.
• You think in systems and architectures, not just individual features.
• Possess a sense of responsibility, team player qualities, and experience in agile setups.
• Very good German language skills; good English skills are an advantage.

AI-Native Toolset (what you actively use):

• Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI IDEs as daily drivers for backend and frontend conception, code reviews, and refactoring.
• Claude Design, Figma Make, or similar for rapid prototyping.
• Experience with the Anthropic API or comparable LLM APIs in production applications.
• Understanding of MCP, Agentic Workflows, Tool Use, and Custom GPTs.
• You know when AI-generated code is directly usable and when artisanal engineering with precise design makes the difference.

Technical Craftsmanship:

• Very good knowledge of Laravel and a deep understanding of PHP, including in the context of legacy systems.
• Very good knowledge of Vue.js and the modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem.
• Experience with Inertia.js and developing modern SPA-like applications on a Laravel base.
• Proficient use of Vite, Git, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or GitLab CI).
• Solid understanding of clean architectures, clean code, Domain-Driven Design, and maintainable software.
• Bonus: Experience with Electron, desktop applications, or performance optimization for databases (MySQL/Postgres).
