This critical role offers the chance to own significant development slices within a domain where accuracy and reliability are paramount. Ideal for experienced .NET Core developers who embrace AI-assisted development and thrive in building complex, high-volume transactional systems, this position is key to powering the future of travel services.

About TripArc

Founded in 2017, TripArc is a $750 million privately held company that empowers leading Travel Agencies and Tour Operators in North America. Our extensive network provides seamless global access to a comprehensive range of travel options and services, processing over $750 million in transactions annually at industry-leading rates. As an industry leader in technology, purchasing, finance, HR, and marketing, we deliver effective solutions for travel professionals. Our deep experience, particularly with luxury travel brands Kensington Tours and Travel Edge, provides us with unique insights into the needs of today's tour operators and travel agencies.

TripArc's mission is to make our network of over 1400 travel entities more profitable, efficient, and capable of creating truly unique travel experiences for their clients.

The Role

TripArc's ADX platform is building the next generation of its core booking infrastructure, and getting it right—every time, at scale—is non-negotiable. This Senior Backend Developer role is central to this development, focusing on a core platform pod responsible for delivering the commercial and transactional capabilities that power the advisor experience and the business behind it.

The roadmap is well-defined with a clear sequence of initiatives and delivery windows. You will own meaningful slices of this build, collaborating directly with Product and UX to design, implement, and ship backend services that are reliable, accurate, and built to last. This is a backend-focused role, primarily involving .NET Core microservices and SQL Server, with Angular touchpoints as needed. Experience in complex transactional or commercial domains is expected, demonstrating an understanding of how to build systems where correctness and reliability are paramount.

How We Build

We expect every developer on this team to use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as a standard part of their development workflow, not as an experiment or replacement for engineering judgment. These tools enable us to move faster and ship with confidence, supported by quality gates, a strong code review culture, and rigorous testing discipline.

What You’ll Work On:

Core Platform Initiatives

  • Design and build core commercial capabilities, including service bundling, pricing, and markup logic, and margin enforcement across booking scenarios.
  • Build transactional workflows, including deposit scheduling, payment collection logic, and booking lifecycle event handling.
  • Develop flexible allocation and payment capabilities, enabling complex booking arrangements across travelers, services, and components.
  • Own the backend services that underpin commercial accuracy: pricing calculations, margin logic, commission rules, and transactional state management.
  • Integrate with external services and third-party APIs via secure, well-structured service contracts.

Platform & Service Work

  • Build and maintain .NET Core microservices within the ADX core platform, focusing on reliability, correctness, and auditability.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL Server queries and stored procedures against a large, mature schema.
  • Design event-driven integrations using Azure Service Bus and NServiceBus for payment lifecycle events and downstream notifications.
  • Contribute to Angular components where payment workflows surface in the advisor-facing UI.
  • Support deployment and operations through Azure Pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.

What We’re Looking For:

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of experience with C# / .NET Core, including building production microservices and ensuring operational soundness.
  • Experience in transactional or commercial domain work, having built systems where accuracy, state management, and edge case handling are critical, with a strong architectural understanding.
  • SQL Server fluency, including experience with complex schemas, stored procedures, query optimization, and ensuring financial data accuracy.
  • Experience with RESTful API design and third-party service integration.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture (Azure Service Bus, NServiceBus, or equivalent messaging patterns).
  • Strong understanding of data correctness requirements, including audit trails, state consistency, and the discipline to build systems where precision is non-negotiable.
  • Comfort working in a mature, high-volume platform where correctness is paramount.
  • Proficiency in using AI development tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.) as a standard workflow.

Nice to Have:

  • Angular experience, sufficient to contribute to advisor-facing payment UI components.
  • Experience with MongoDB, Docker/Kubernetes, Azure Pipelines.
  • Experience with compliance or data security standards relevant to commercial transaction systems.

How You Work:

You take correctness seriously—in financial systems, precision is a requirement. You design defensively, document your assumptions, and build with auditability in mind. You communicate clearly with Product regarding financial edge cases and collaborate effectively while maintaining autonomy. You bring opinions to technical discussions, push back constructively, and take genuine ownership of your work.

The Tech Stack:

.NET Core · C# · SQL Server · Azure Service Bus · NServiceBus · Angular · Docker · Kubernetes · Azure Pipelines · Redis · GraphQL · MongoDB · Entity Framework · JIRA · Confluence

Why This Role:

Every booking on the ADX platform runs through the commercial infrastructure owned by this pod. The work is scoped, sequenced, and ready to build. As a developer joining this team, you will have direct ownership of services at the core of TripArc’s operation. This is an ideal backend role for those who value impactful work and operate in a domain where precision is the job.

Compensation:

  • Competitive compensation package with a strong pay-for-performance rewards approach.
  • Opportunity to participate in incentive programs and compensation tied to business and individual performance.
  • Expected base compensation range: $115,000 to $125,000.
  • Actual compensation will vary based on local market conditions, geography, and relevant job-related factors (knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, education/training).

Location & Work Model:

  • Hybrid position: 2 days a week onsite at 2 Queen St. E in Toronto, ON.
  • Fully remote options are available for applicants outside the commutable range.

Commitment to Accessibility:

We are committed to providing employment accommodation in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. If you require accommodation due to a disability at any stage of our hiring process, please advise us when completing your application.
