The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate Team Lead - New Business (BC) to join our expanding team. Reporting to the Practice Leader, this role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, enhancing conversion rates, and ensuring team efficiency and quality. This is a "player/coach" position, requiring you to mentor New Business Brokers while also actively engaging with prospects and underwriters to close deals yourself. Strong sales expertise and coaching abilities are core to this role.
The New Business Workflow

- Qualified Leads: Brokers engage with 15+ warm leads daily.
- Pure Sales Focus: Dedicated teams handle renewals and mid-term changes, allowing brokers to concentrate solely on new business.
- Speed to Market: We emphasize rapid pipeline management and quick binding of business with over 50 providers.
- Tech-Driven: Utilize a proprietary BMS and advanced quoting technology for real-time deal delivery.
- Measured Outcomes: Success is tracked through GWP, binding ratios, and response times.
Responsibilities
- Sales Coaching: Enhance team performance through hands-on coaching, shadow sessions, and constructive feedback, focusing on an exceptional customer experience.
- Leadership Focus: Demonstrate commitment to leadership by delivering clear feedback, conducting effective 1:1s, and cultivating a high-performing, resilient sales culture.
- Motivation & Inspiration: Maintain high team energy and motivate brokers to consistently achieve and surpass monthly GWP targets.
- Team Development: Lead daily huddles, coaching sessions, and file audits to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and service.
- Navigating Ambiguity: Apply sound judgment to assist brokers in navigating complex contractor risks.
Requirements
- Industry Experience: 5+ years of insurance experience, with a preference for commercial insurance.
- People Leadership: 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- License: Possess a valid provincial broker's license (RIBO preferred).
- Performance Management: Proven experience in driving team performance and achieving sales targets.
- Goal Orientation: A "hunter" mentality with the persistence and agility to consistently meet and exceed goals.
- Execution & Detail: High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Self-Development: Committed to continuous personal growth and staying abreast of industry trends.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year.
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): Total cash compensation, including OTE, ranges from $102,000 to $115,000.
- The provided base salary range is a nationwide market range; actual salary will depend on factors like scope, complexity, location, candidate qualifications, and employment conditions. Performance-based incentive awards may also be available.
