About the Role: Head of Engineering, Commercial Services
As Head of Engineering, you will shape the future of Tide's commercial services platform. This senior technical leadership position involves defining architecture, driving engineering strategy, and ensuring technical execution. You will lead and mentor Engineering Managers and senior engineers, fostering technical excellence and scalable practices.
Your Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architectural direction for Tide’s Commercial Services offerings, ensuring scalability, resilience, and compliance.
- Lead the design and development of high-quality credit products.
- Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Business teams.
- Oversee integrations with third-party providers.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance in architecture, design, and engineering decisions.
- Champion engineering best practices, including system design, security, and software development standards.
- Mentor engineers and Engineering Managers, fostering a culture of learning and ownership.
- Influence Tide’s overall technical strategy for global scaling.
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 3 years in senior engineering leadership roles.
- Strong experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and LLMs to improve engineering productivity and quality.
- Experience building scalable, resilient, fault-tolerant systems.
- Breadth of technical knowledge with depth in at least one stack; ability to quickly adapt is critical.
- Proven track record of delivering complex systems and third-party integrations.
- Ability to translate business goals into a technical roadmap and communicate technical decisions.
- Strong mentoring skills and ability to build high-performing teams.
