Who We Are
At Reddit, Technical Program Managers use technical judgment to define and drive large programs across multiple teams. They partner with engineering and product leaders to develop strategies, drive project impact, execute planning, and gain alignment with stakeholders. They identify root causes, select solutions, and understand the effects and risks of proposed solutions. This role reports into the TPM team within Reddit's Engineering Operations organization. As a Principal TPM, you will operate at an executive and company scope, shaping strategy, creating alignment, and setting the bar for complex technical program execution. While this role does not involve direct people management, it is part of Reddit's organizational leadership, focusing on delivering programs and changing how teams think, collaborate, and make decisions.
About the Role
Reddit is entering a new era of software development, where AI and agentic workflows are transforming how code is planned, written, reviewed, tested, and shipped. This role will lead company-wide programs for AI-assisted engineering workflows, partnering with engineering leaders across various domains to make AI-native development safe, measurable, scalable, and effective. You will help establish the path for agentic development, ensuring flexibility for experimentation while protecting quality and proving delivered value.
What You'll Do
- Own and drive programs across Reddit's Developer Productivity and AI portfolio, including agent infrastructure, AI-assisted code review, developer environments, LLM governance, developer tooling, AI workflow measurement, and software delivery automation.
- Partner deeply with engineering teams as a technical peer to bring programs to completion, balancing risk, and aligning execution with Reddit's long-term developer productivity strategy.
- Translate strategy into executable programs across code review, agent infrastructure, self-service LLM access, evaluation and observability systems, development environments, and safe agent workflows.
- Define and drive the operating model for AI-native developer productivity, including adoption paths, guardrails, success measurement, and risk escalation.
- Create company-level alignment across infrastructure, developer experience, reliability, security, compliance, product engineering, machine learning, and executive stakeholders.
- Drive the social and cultural change required for AI-assisted development to succeed company-wide, building trust, addressing skepticism, and creating feedback loops.
- Develop communication and enablement mechanisms (forums, working groups, training, documentation) to support AI adoption.
- Build measurement systems that distinguish real productivity from vanity metrics, defining industry-aligned metrics in partnership with engineering and data teams.
- Drive AI governance and adoption while ensuring security, cost management, privacy, compliance, and operational safety.
- Use technical judgment to challenge assumptions, identify systemic risks, and guide tradeoffs across AI tooling, CI/CD, code review, deploy automation, developer environments, and production reliability.
Who You Are
- 14+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering, infrastructure, developer tools, platform engineering, AI tooling, or related technical domains.
- Proven experience leading multi-year, multi-organization technical programs with executive visibility and ambiguous ownership.
- Deep fluency in developer productivity systems (CI/CD, code review, testing, deployment, observability, developer environments, internal platforms, AI-assisted development workflows).
- Understanding of AI and LLM-enabled software development, including agent workflows, governance, evals, telemetry, code quality, review burden, cost controls, and operational risk.
- Highly data-driven with the ability to build measurement systems that connect workflow improvements to business and engineering outcomes.
- Exceptional cross-functional operator and communicator, skilled at building trust and creating clarity across diverse teams.
- Experience leading meaningful organizational change and shifting behavior across teams.
- Proven ability to deliver outcomes and help teams understand the difference between motion and impact.
- Pragmatic and iterative approach to introducing structure and driving adoption.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading developer productivity, platform engineering, infrastructure modernization, or AI tooling programs at scale.
- Experience with LLM platforms, AI-assisted development tools, agentic workflows, or AI governance in an enterprise engineering environment.
- Experience building adoption strategies for internal platforms or developer tools.
- Experience leading cultural transformation or change management programs across engineering organizations.
- Familiarity with engineering productivity frameworks (e.g., DORA, SPACE).
- Experience working in fast-moving environments with evolving technical strategy and organizational design.
