Director Data
Build the data foundation that powers KoRo's AI and decisions
KoRo is not just a food company with data; we are a data company that sells delicious, better-for-you food. Our competitive edge stems from the engine behind our products: over 2.5 million direct customer relationships, 50+ attributes per customer, 7 million+ transactions, 200,000+ reviews, and a test-and-learn loop that validates online winners before scaling them to retail in under six months.
Currently, this engine relies on strong analytics and sharp instincts, primarily from our D2C data. The next frontier involves connecting this data to create a unified view of the customer across D2C and retail, and a data model that accurately captures the relationships between customers, products, and channels. AI is only as effective as the data it's built upon, and that data is your domain.
As Director of Data, you will own this foundation: a trusted, connected, AI-ready data layer, the omni-channel customer intelligence built upon it, and the self-service capabilities that empower every team to work with data without delays.
What You'll Do
- Own Data Strategy: Define a multi-year roadmap focused on building data foundations, models, and workflows that unlock company-wide value, creating the platform for our AI, analytics, and decisions.
- Build Self-Service Backbone: Make clean, trusted, well-modeled data accessible where teams work. Establish self-service analytics and BI to enable product managers and marketers to validate ideas and segment audiences without lengthy ticket processes.
- Deliver AI-Ready Data: Ensure data is structured, governed, and accessible for the AI Director and teams to build upon with confidence, implementing the right pipelines, features, and access patterns to avoid data bottlenecks.
- Build Omni-Channel Customer Intelligence: Unify D2C and retail signals into a trustworthy view of the customer journey across online and in-store channels, enabling identity resolution, unified segmentation, and understanding of channel synergy.
- Pioneer Graph-Based Approaches: Model customers, products, channels, and behaviors as a connected graph, moving beyond flat tables to power affinity and basket intelligence, recommendations, trend propagation, and downstream AI use cases.
- Set Guardrails: Implement and manage data governance, quality, privacy, and EU/GDPR-compliant customer data usage policies.
- Lead and Grow Data Team: Shape the team structure (data engineering, analytics, platform, embedded analysts), hire and develop talent, and elevate the standards of data craft and enablement.
- Be the Translator: Translate commercial questions into data capabilities and demonstrate the business value of data capabilities across all functions.
Your Profile
- Minimum 10-15 years leading data, analytics, or platform functions, ideally in D2C, e-commerce, retail, or consumer goods within a fast-scaling environment.
- Proven track record of building data platforms and self-service capabilities that accelerate organizational velocity. Success is measured by what the organization ships, not solely by your team's output.
- Strong technical fluency, capable of in-depth discussions with engineers on architecture, pipelines, and tooling, combined with genuine commercial judgment.
- Hands-on familiarity with omni-channel/multi-source customer data (unifying online and offline signals, identity resolution) and graph data approaches (graph databases, knowledge/customer graphs, recommendation/affinity), or a clear aptitude and ability to build them.
- Experience establishing data governance, quality, and privacy practices that enable rather than hinder.
- Proven ability to drive adoption and encourage non-technical teams to effectively use tools and trust data.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams, with the maturity to prioritize and make difficult decisions.
- A pragmatic, build-fast-and-validate mindset aligned with our test-and-learn culture.
- Fluent English; German is a plus.
