The Role: Solutions Engineering Manager (Pre-Sales)
As a team leader, enabler, point of reference, and coach, you will work closely with prospects and customers to enhance your team’s technical expertise. You will onboard new team members, ensure equitable workload distribution, and provide constructive feedback. This role requires quickly escalating and identifying issues, coordinating with other team leads, and maintaining regional alignment. The Solutions Engineering Manager operates with a player/coach mindset, ready to lead by example in the field and partner closely with sales leaders to drive revenue targets.
You will collaborate across all Cloudflare teams—Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support—to ensure customer success and advise your team on creating scalable solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Solutions Engineers.
- Act as a technical point of reference and coach for the team.
- Ensure effective workload distribution and team performance.
- Collaborate with prospects and customers to understand their technical needs.
- Partner with Sales and other internal teams to drive revenue growth.
- Escalate and resolve technical and team-related issues efficiently.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Cloudflare's solutions and processes.

What You Need
- 15+ years of pre-sales / SE experience in a reputable IT company.
- 5+ years of experience as a frontline or second-level SE manager role.
- Strong understanding of the Northern European (Benelux / Nordics) market, with a proven track record of business engagements in this region.
- Proven track record of business growth and talent acquisition (team building).
- Demonstrable experience in coaching, leadership skills, and team management.
- Demonstrable experience in understanding and solving escalations, team issues, or other management-related scenarios.
- Understanding of customer buying decision processes and how to influence them; ability to make intelligent business decisions to drive revenue targets.
- Expertise in internet technologies: OSI Model layers 1-7, BGP, TCP/UDP, DNS (authoritative and recursive), HTTP(S), SSL/TLS.
- Technical curiosity and passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends.
Bonus Points
- BSc/MSc or equivalent degree in a technology-related field.
- MBA.
- Demonstrated experience with a scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash, Go) and a desire to expand those skills.
- Industry and technology certifications.
- Exposure to emerging technical landscape trends (e.g., Zero Trust, Serverless computing).
- Experience in Cloud project deployments.
- Fluency in another European language in addition to English.

Compensation
- Estimated annual salary for Sweden-based hires: SEK 1,342,000 - SEK 1,846,000.
- This role is eligible for incentive compensation under Cloudflare’s Sales Compensation Plan.
