About the Role

The Assessment Services Specialist is a critical individual contributor role within the Assessment Services team at Newsela. This position is focused on providing comprehensive, end-to-end support for customer assessment needs, working directly with district and school stakeholders to deliver high-quality assessment services and drive customer value.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support Implementation & Onboarding: Assist in the setup of Newsela’s assessment products for assigned accounts, including configuration and go-live support.
  • Deliver Ongoing Advisory & Support: Partner with customers to enhance their utilization of Newsela assessments, offering score interpretation, data coaching, and usage reviews.
  • Execute Assessment Migration & Content Work: Manage assessment migration and content services, ensuring adherence to scope, quality, and timelines.
  • Own Your Accounts: Manage the full lifecycle of customer engagements, from scoping and scheduling to communication and delivery, with proactive escalation of issues.
  • Document and Improve: Create playbooks, templates, and reusable artifacts to enhance team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate effectively with Customer Service, Sales, Product, and Content teams.
  • Be a Voice of the Customer: Relay customer feedback and patterns to internal teams to inform product and service improvements.

About You

  • 5+ years of combined experience in K-12 EdTech, assessment, and/or customer-facing professional services.
  • Understanding of formative and/or interim assessments, their development, usage, and educator decision-making based on data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at various levels.
  • Highly organized and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Genuine interest in assessment, educational data, and deepening customer relationships.

Bonus Points For

  • Background as a former educator, instructional coach, or district-level assessment leader.
  • Prior experience in services, implementation, or customer success at an EdTech or assessment company.
  • Exposure to various assessment types beyond formative and interim.
  • Familiarity with standards frameworks, item-writing concepts, or psychometric basics.
  • Experience in a product-led organization with close services and product partnerships.

Compensation

  • Base Compensation Range: $60,000—$70,000 USD
