Systems Engineer (Intermediate, Cyber Infrastructure) - Remote

ECS is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer (Intermediate, Cyber Infrastructure) to work remotely, providing infrastructure support for the work performed under the NIH NIAID Enabling and Advancing Technologies (NEAT) contract. This role is dedicated to facilitating the implementation and operation of Network and Cybersecurity, supporting current and future technologies within the NIAID and NIH environment in response to evolving business strategies, policies, and regulatory changes.

About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating and performing additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, along with attached devices. This includes the full lifecycle from investigation and analysis to installation and testing of new network components.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems and attached devices.
• Conduct investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
• Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems.
• Evaluate system utilization, monitor response times, and provide primary support for the detection and correction of operational problems.
• Troubleshoot network issues at the physical and logical levels, utilizing network measurement tools and analyzing communication protocols.
• Maintain network infrastructure standards, including network communication protocols like TCP/IP.
• Provide technical consultation, training, and support to designated IT staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, systems, and applications, including support teams and ensuring quality of service operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Active Public Trust or higher security clearance.
• Strong supervisory skills in managing system configuration and operation.
• Experience working with network hardware and operating systems.
• Experience performing investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
• Must reside within the Washington DC Metro area.
• Ability to travel within the Washington DC Metro Area and CONUS as needed.
