Senior Revenue Accountant

Success in the Role: Performance Outcomes (First 6-12 Months)

First 30 Days:

  • Begin understanding the order process flow and key order elements.
  • Apply meticulous attention to detail to ensure error-free and compliant handling of orders.
  • Start interacting with team members and stakeholders to build collaborative relationships.

Within 3 to 6 Months:

  • Independently review and process standard sales orders and revenue contracts.
  • Identify appropriate contacts for resolving questions and build stakeholder relationships.
  • Comprehend key accounting pronouncements impacting revenue recognition at Evolv.

By the End of the First Year:

  • Independently review sales orders, maintain revenue reporting accuracy, and ensure efficient sales order approval processes.
  • Consistently process routine contracts and maintain accurate revenue records with minimal supervision.
  • Update installation and fulfillment dates in line with revenue recognition rules.
  • Efficiently navigate key systems to find relevant information independently.
  • Partner with Sr. Revenue Accountant or relevant leaders on ad hoc analysis and complex contract reviews.

The Work: Daily Assignments & Skills

Accounting Acumen:

  • Strong foundational knowledge in accounting principles and practices.
  • Record and reconcile revenue accounts for standard contracts in accordance with US GAAP and ASC 606 policies.
  • Identify needed monthly accruals.
  • Apply revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) for accurate and compliant accounting.

Reporting Skills:

  • Prioritize and handle multiple ad hoc revenue reporting requirements accurately and on time.
  • Support tracking of key metrics like Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO), and Deployed Units.

Attention to Detail:

  • Ensure precision in financial transactions, compliance with ASC 606 and ASC 842, and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Review sales orders, bookings, and contracts; manage approvals in NetSuite and Salesforce.

Team Engagement:

  • Collaborate effectively with Order Entry, Logistics, and the broader accounting team.
  • Utilize strong communication skills in a team-oriented environment.
  • Support the accounting team in managing the general ledger and closing the books.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for auditors for revenue testing of routine contracts.
  • Assist the accounts receivable team with invoicing issue resolution.

Leadership & Team Culture

Report directly to the Manager of Revenue Accounting within Evolv’s collaborative, detail-oriented Accounting team. The team values accuracy, accountability, clear communication, and continuous improvement, working closely with Finance, Sales Operations, Order Entry, Logistics, and Accounts Receivable.

Location

Hybrid role based at Evolv's headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts. Requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Compensation and Transparency

  • Base Salary Range: $79,000 - $129,000 per year.
  • Additional Compensation: Competitive target bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Range Determination: Based on role, level, location, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
  • Transparency: Salary ranges disclosed in all job postings. Recruiters will share specific location ranges, benefits overview, and compensation decision factors during the hiring process.

Education & Credentials

  • CPA license or actively pursuing certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Accounting Knowledge

  • Experience in a SOX-compliant environment (public accounting firm or publicly traded company).
  • Hands-on experience applying US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition rules.
  • Experience with lease accounting under ASC 842.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing revenue-related journal entries, accruals, or reconciliations.

Collaboration & Audits

  • Experience serving as a point of contact for external auditors on revenue-related testing.
