We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the Global QMS Manager, responsible for the Minerals Geochemistry laboratories.
Job Description
This position is responsible for the administration, supervision, and monitoring of the global Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and Minerals Technical Governance Global policies and procedures for all Mineral Geochemistry laboratories, with support for Trade laboratories as needed. You will monitor the laboratory network, promote laboratory best practices, and instill a culture of continuous improvement across regions. You will also lead and direct a small, virtual team of Quality and Continuous Improvement specialists.
Global QMS Responsibilities
- Administer and review global Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025.
- Design and administer systems and tools for data acceptance & rejection criteria.
- Collaborate with Laboratory Managers and Operations Integrity (OI) teams to ensure safe working practices in Minerals Laboratories, adhering to global procedures (OIMS) and industry standards.
- Maintain and update central quality control and global lab methodology documentation (electronic and hardcopy), including SLIM / G6 schemes, and manage configurations.
- Provide laboratory support for CCLAS EL / G6 setup, method validation, data acceptance/rejection, QMS design, and best practices.
- Develop, distribute, and monitor new Quality Policies and Procedures as required.
- Identify and approve Performance Testing Programs for Group laboratories.
- Monitor and oversee laboratory responses to global PT program providers.
Client Related Support
- Liaise with regional and local Quality Systems Managers, Operations Managers, Technical Managers, and Client Services personnel regarding customer quality complaints and claims.
- Troubleshoot analytical issues and coordinate specialist support (e.g., ICP, XRF, FA).
Laboratory Audit Responsibilities
- Monitor and utilize LQSI, Geostats, and other PT program data to identify problems and improvement trends, highlighting laboratories requiring further investigation or audits.
- Utilize remote SLIM / G6 access to monitor and identify quality issues within the laboratory network.
- Schedule, direct, and perform internal audits as per the approved schedule, including follow-up and detailed site investigations where necessary.
Laboratory Best Practice and Improvement Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Group's senior technical personnel to continuously improve lab products and services.
- Coordinate with Group's Technology Transfer Managers and Global Technical Expert peers to schedule new laboratory and methodology start-ups, and assist with the validation of new laboratories, methodologies, and analytical technologies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Field: Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry.
- Experience: Over ten (10) years of industry experience.
- Accreditation: Completion of courses in Laboratory Auditing or Accreditation.
- Quality Systems: Proven experience in quality systems.
- Language: Fluency in English is mandatory; fluency in additional languages is a significant asset.
- Skills: Demonstrated skills in analytical methodologies; effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate teams and motivate others.
- Attributes: Creative, innovative, client-focused, able to build trust and respect, possesses strong time management skills, works well under pressure, and can work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Compliance: Mandatory compliance with company and Government Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
Additional Information
- Compensation: $90,000 to $120,000 annually.
