Samsara's Identity and Access Management (IAM) team is central to securing access for millions of users and over 2.3 million connected devices. They are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive innovation and resilience within the IAM platform. This role requires technical depth, security expertise, and leadership to shape authentication and authorization strategies across the full stack, with a focus on securing access for humans, services, and AI agents.

In this role, you will:
- Design and evolve IAM foundations for AI Agents, including identity, permission guardrails, and audit systems.
- Develop reliable, standards-based, and performant authentication and authorization systems for millions of users.
- Propose and implement technical solutions, guide system architecture, and ensure cross-stack integration (frontend, backend, databases, APIs, AI agents).
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering to address complex risk and governance challenges.
- Support and develop team members through code reviews, design discussions, and career development.
- Champion and embed Samsara's cultural principles.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in building and operating production software.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM systems, threat models, and mitigations.
- Proficiency in languages like Java, Python, or Golang.
- Experience designing and operating highly reliable, scalable distributed systems.
- Experience building security-sensitive or identity-related systems.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
Ideal Candidate Also Has:
- Enterprise IAM experience (OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, SAML, JWT, Session Management).
- In-depth experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience building secure authentication/authorization for web/mobile.
- Experience with AI Agent or Non-Human identity platforms.
Compensation & Rewards
- Annual Base Salary: $142,800—$184,800 CAD
- Total Rewards: Above-market compensation including base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles).
