About the Role
The Global PR Lead is OLIVER's senior specialist for earned media and thought leadership. This role is accountable for developing and executing PR strategy, managing media relations, executive profile development, analyst and influencer engagement, and crisis communications across OLIVER's key growth markets, including the UK, North America, and EMEA. You will set the strategic direction for the PR function, manage the PR Manager, and personally lead critical relationships and programs. This involves cultivating senior journalist and editor relationships, developing executive profiles for OLIVER's C-suite and managing directors, and shaping OLIVER's positioning with industry analysts and marketing commentators.
You will work closely with the Global Head of Marketing and the Content & Campaigns Lead, forming the core of OLIVER's reputation engine. While the Global Head of Marketing sets brand strategy and positioning, and the Content & Campaigns Lead manages content and channel delivery, you will own the earned media, executive profile, and thought leadership programs that build and protect OLIVER's market credibility. Collaboration extends to the Awards Lead and Demand Generation Lead to ensure award wins are amplified and earned media efforts are tracked for commercial impact.
What You Will Be Doing
#### Global PR Strategy
- Define and own OLIVER’s global PR strategy across key growth markets, establishing narrative priorities, media mapping, journalist targeting, and proactive/reactive pitching approaches to enhance credibility and visibility with enterprise and marketing industry audiences.
- Develop an annual PR calendar aligned with commercial priorities, campaign activities, awards programs, and market moments, ensuring planned and proactive earned media efforts.
- Monitor and analyze OLIVER's share of voice across markets and media categories, tracking coverage quality, competitive positioning, and narrative consistency to refine strategy.
- Collaborate with the Global Head of Marketing and Content & Campaigns Lead to ensure PR strategy is integrated with brand positioning, content, and commercial objectives.
- Adapt global PR strategy for specific market nuances in the UK, North America, and EMEA, considering local audiences, media landscapes, and cultural contexts.
#### Senior Media Relations
- Build, maintain, and leverage senior relationships with journalists, editors, and media contacts in business, marketing, creative, and trade media across key growth markets.
- Lead pitching and relationship management for OLIVER’s highest-priority media targets, bringing senior-level credibility and depth.
- Write and edit press releases, media pitches, bylines, and editorial materials to the highest standard, setting the quality benchmark and providing editorial direction.
- Identify and respond to comment opportunities swiftly, ensuring consistent and well-briefed representation of OLIVER's senior leaders.
- Manage major news announcements end-to-end, including drafting, approvals, distribution, and follow-up, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
#### Executive Profiling & Personal Brand Building
- Own and lead OLIVER’s executive profiling program, personally building the public profiles of senior leaders (Global CEO, regional MDs, etc.) in relevant media landscapes.
- Develop bespoke personal brand strategies for senior leaders, aligning with the Global Head of Marketing's positioning framework.
- Secure and manage a consistent pipeline of high-quality profile-building opportunities (bylines, speaking engagements, podcasts, awards, LinkedIn).
- Brief and coach executives for media engagements, interviews, and speaking appearances.
- Track executive profile development as a measurable outcome, establishing reporting frameworks for media presence, share of voice, and audience reach.
#### Thought Leadership Programme
- Develop and manage OLIVER’s thought leadership program, identifying key topics, narratives, and points of view to position OLIVER as an authority in the in-house agency, marketing transformation, and creative effectiveness space.
- Commission, write, and place high-quality thought leadership content, collaborating with internal experts and external contributors.
- Ensure thought leadership narratives align with the Global Head of Marketing's positioning and integrate with content and campaign leads.
#### Influencer & Analyst Relations
- Build and manage relationships with industry analysts, marketing commentators, and sector influencers who impact enterprise marketing leaders' perceptions of in-house agencies and marketing transformation.
- Develop a structured analyst engagement program, including regular briefings, research participation, and co-created content.
- Identify and activate relevant industry influencer relationships with a commercially considered and brand-safe approach.
- Develop co-created content with analysts and partners to ensure consistent representation of OLIVER's narrative.
#### Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, develop, and manage the PR Manager, providing direction, feedback, and support for their professional growth.
- Set quality standards for all PR output and ensure consistent adherence.
- Build an organized and well-documented PR function, including media lists, contact databases, editorial calendars, and performance reporting.
- Act as a senior resource and collaborator for the Global Marketing Team, contributing PR expertise to campaign planning and reputation decisions.
#### Performance & Measurement
- Own PR performance reporting, tracking share of voice, coverage quality, executive profile development, SEO impact, analyst engagement, and pipeline attribution.
- Develop reporting frameworks that link earned media activity to commercial outcomes, presenting insights and recommendations to the Global Head of Marketing.
- Use performance data to continuously refine strategy, targeting, and priorities.
#### Crisis & Issues Communications
- Lead OLIVER’s crisis and issues communications function, developing and maintaining crisis frameworks and monitoring for reputational risk.
- Serve as the senior communications advisor to the Global Head of Marketing and Global CEO in reputational risk situations.
- Ensure crisis communications protocols are documented, current, and understood across the relevant teams.
#### Budget Ownership
- Manage the PR function budget, forecasting spend, tracking costs, and reporting on performance.
- Drive cost efficiency across the PR function while maintaining quality and ambition.
- Report on PR ROI, connecting earned media investment to measurable commercial outputs.
What You Need to Be Great in This Role
- Proven track record as a senior PR leader in B2B, marketing services, creative, or professional services, with success in securing tier-one media coverage.
- Established, senior-level relationships with journalists, editors, and media decision-makers in the marketing, creative, and business press.
- A strategic understanding of how earned media builds brand credibility and commercial reputation, with experience executing measurable programs.
- Experience leading a PR function or program with full strategic ownership and accountability.
- Demonstrable track record of building personal brands and public profiles of senior marketing leaders.
- Experience working directly with C-suite and senior leadership, providing strategic counsel.
- Expertise in securing high-value profile-building opportunities (bylines, keynotes, podcasts, awards).
- Strategic approach to executive profiling, with experience developing tailored positioning and tracking progress.
