Engineering Manager, Safety Experience

About the Role

This position is completely remote-friendly within the United States. As the Engineering Manager, you will own the strategy, development, and scaling of Reddit's Safety Experience Team. You will lead a team dedicated to building the next generation of scalable safety tooling and automated defense systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-impact team of 13 engineers focused on automated AI training and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Own user-facing tools for moderators to define and enforce community rules.
• Oversee the centralized platform used by admins for AI model training, report processing, and activity investigation.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, ML, and Operations to execute an AI-first platform strategy that scales and reduces incident response times.

Required Qualifications

• Proven track record of directly managing and scaling engineering teams (10+ ICs) across full-stack and backend systems.
• Deep technical expertise in full-stack engineering or architecture, with experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to set team roadmaps, deliver results, and maintain a strong customer and business focus.
• Experience coaching and providing feedback to team members, fostering a healthy team culture.
• Customer-focused, self-directed, innovative, and action-oriented in fast-paced environments.
• Familiarity with or strong interest in AI/ML engineering practices, including serving, prompt engineering, or productionizing LLM/classical workflows at scale.

Pay Transparency

• The base salary range for this position is $217,000 - $303,900 USD.
• This role may also be eligible for equity and a commission, depending on the position offered.
• Final offer amounts are determined by factors including skills, experience, and relevant licenses/credentials.
