About the Role

The Platform team at Babylist is the bedrock of our engineering efforts, ensuring reliability, speed, and scalability. As a Staff SRE, you will be instrumental in managing and advancing the infrastructure and reliability practices supporting over 9 million users and the engineers who build for them. Babylist is expanding into new domains like health, media, and mobile, and the Platform team is crucial to this growth. This is a proactive role focused on evolving our AWS infrastructure, CI systems, and developer tooling, offering significant cross-functional impact and leverage across the entire engineering organization.

Who You Are

• Deep hands-on Terraform expertise: You own and drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Proven AWS experience at scale: Proficient with EKS, RDS, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, and load balancers, understanding their complexities.
• Experienced operating Kubernetes in production: Capable of debugging complex issues beyond basic deployment.
• Comfortable designing and improving CI/CD systems: Expertise in CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar, with a focus on developer velocity.
• Strong observability instincts: Skilled in using tools like Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, and Cronitor to build actionable alerting.
• Experienced with on-call and incident management: Proven ability to lead incident response and implement post-incident improvements.
• Comfortable supporting developers across local, staging, and production environments, acting as a valuable resource.
• Naturally integrates AI into daily work, using it to enhance speed and output, and maintains curiosity about future AI advancements.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Infrastructure ownership: Manage and evolve our AWS environment using Terraform, ensuring EKS clusters, databases, and core services are current and performant.
• CI/CD reliability: Own the speed and reliability of CI systems for the entire Engineering organization.
• Developer support: Serve as the primary point of contact for engineers needing assistance with environments, providing rapid unblocking across all stages.
• Monitoring & alerting standards: Establish and promote best practices for effective and targeted alerting.
• Incident response: Lead or support incident response efforts, conduct thorough post-incident reviews, and ensure follow-through on corrective actions.
• Platform strategy: Contribute to key architectural decisions guiding the future evolution of Babylist's infrastructure.

Compensation

The starting salary range for this role is $226,673 to $271,991 annually. Final salary will be determined by location, experience, and qualifications, with adjustments based on performance, role growth, and internal pay equity.
