Senior Technical Advisor - Brownfield Redevelopment & Environmental Remediation

Location: Ballston Spa, NY (Hybrid)

LaBella Associates is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as a Senior Technical Advisor based in our Ballston Spa, NY office, offering a hybrid work environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive industry experience who can provide high-level technical guidance and strategic oversight for complex brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, and site development projects, primarily within New York State regulatory programs.

About the Role

As a Senior Technical Advisor, you will be a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, supporting business development efforts, mentoring staff, and guiding successful project delivery. You will leverage your technical expertise, industry relationships, and understanding of regulatory and redevelopment processes to support both public and private sector clients, while helping expand LaBella’s presence in key markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisory: Provide senior-level technical and regulatory guidance on complex brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, and site development projects.
  • Project Oversight: Offer high-level direction on project strategy, technical approaches, risk management, budgeting, regulatory coordination, and client objectives.
  • Business Development: Identify and cultivate opportunities with existing and prospective clients, supporting proposal development and client engagement.
  • Client Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor, fostering long-term relationships and navigating complex project and regulatory challenges.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert on brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, and related regulatory programs, guiding on industry trends and best practices.
  • Regulatory Coordination: Facilitate productive interactions between clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams.
  • Mentoring: Support the professional development of technical and project management staff through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with technical, project management, and business development teams across the company.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Planning, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • 30+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, remediation, brownfield redevelopment, site development, or regulatory compliance.
  • Extensive experience managing, advising, or overseeing complex brownfield redevelopment and environmental remediation projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regulations, programs, and permitting processes.
  • Significant experience with the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP).
  • Proven ability to provide strategic guidance and technical leadership on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Established professional relationships within the environmental consulting, development, and regulatory communities.
  • Successful track record of supporting business development, client relationship management, and strategic growth.
  • Experience mentoring technical and project management staff.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience).
