Forward Deployed Engineer (all genders)

PARTSCLOUD GmbH📍 StuttgartEstimated: $80,000 - $120,000

✨ AI Insights & Summary

PartsOS is revolutionizing industrial spare parts management, and they're seeking their first dedicated Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to be a cornerstone of their customer success. This is a unique ground-floor opportunity to define integration processes, build reusable templates, and directly influence customer conversion by ensuring rapid Time-to-Value. If you thrive on solving complex data challenges with code and collaboration in a fast-paced environment, this Stuttgart-based role offers immense ownership and impact.

Your Mission

You will make customer value technically real, owning the path from raw ERP data to the first trustworthy PartsOS planning result. Your goal is to deliver this value within five working days of data access. You will work directly with customer maintenance, spare-parts, and supply-chain teams in factories, transforming undocumented ERP data into actionable plans. As the technical expert in a two-person team with a Customer Success Manager (CSM), you will own the system and speed, ensuring a swift Time-to-Value.

What You’ll Be Working On

Time-to-Value

  • Achieve the first meaningful planning result within five working days of data access – this metric is yours to own.
  • Drive data extraction collaboratively on the call in a single session, never handing it back as homework.

The Data Path, End to End

  • Manage data extraction from customer ERPs, followed by cleaning, mapping, validation, and reliable, repeatable loading.
  • Develop robust transforms capable of handling complex datasets (150+ columns, incorrect data, hidden sheets), flagging all assumptions and validating with the customer's system owner.
  • Write data pipelines using SQL and Python, creating reproducible imports rather than disposable spreadsheets.

Integration Architecture & IT Concept

  • Define export paths and cadences, clarify interface ownership, and address SAP indirect-use, licensing, and security concerns proactively.
  • Analyze and understand various industrial ERP data models (SAP, Business Central, proALPHA, homegrown systems) to locate demand, stock, lead times, and BOMs.

Configuration That Reflects Reality

  • Translate customer-specific planning requirements (service levels, lead times, criticality hierarchies, reorder logic) into PartsOS configuration.
  • Ensure the AI augments, rather than overrules, the customer's manual judgment.

Trust Through Traceability

  • Ensure every recommendation traces back to a raw ERP field and integrates cleanly with the customer's existing MRP/disposition logic.
  • Validate all outputs in staging to catch data defects before they reach the customer.

The Playbook

  • Convert one-off integrations into reusable templates to accelerate future onboarding.
  • Identify and communicate reproducible product gaps to Engineering, clearly distinguishing them from implementation issues.

Working With Your CSM

  • Operate as a two-person team where the CSM owns the relationship, business case, and conversion, while you own the data, system, and Time-to-Value.
  • Translate business goals into configuration and leverage the CSM to clear stakeholder paths for technical blockers.
  • Maintain clear responsibilities, avoiding overlap in relationship management or data preparation.

Who We’re Looking For

Must-Have

  • 3–8 years in a hands-on, customer-facing technical role (e.g., solutions engineering, implementation, forward-deployed, data engineering) with a track record of delivering working outcomes.
  • Strong data skills: Proficient in SQL and Python for data transformation, with the ability to trace planning outputs back to raw ERP exports.
  • Ability to reason about various industrial ERP data models rather than specializing in a single system.
  • Proven ability to solve problems collaboratively with customers in real-time and own the results.
  • Fluent in German and English.

Nice-to-Have

  • Direct SAP exposure (ECC / S/4HANA, PM or MM) – not required to be an SAP consultant.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central, proALPHA, or other Mittelstand ERPs.
  • Experience with REST APIs and scripting for automating data flows.

Not for You If...

  • You prefer working tickets over solving customer problems directly.
  • You require fully defined specs and are uncomfortable with messy, undocumented data.
  • You are a single-ERP specialist not excited by broader customer problems.
  • You hand data extraction back to the customer and wait.
  • You prioritize perfection over shipping a fast, working-enough first version.
  • You want to own the customer relationship and commercials (this is the CSM's role).

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Ground-floor ownership: As the first dedicated FDE, you'll set standards, build the playbook, and enable rapid onboarding for industrial customers.
  • Direct Impact: Your work is critical to customer conversion; the technical path to value directly determines success.
  • Competitive Compensation: Includes a salary package and meaningful participation in the Virtual Stock Incentive Plan (VSIP) for long-term growth.
  • Great Work Environment: On-site in Stuttgart 4 days/week with flexible hours, top equipment, WELLPASS, a central office location, and regular team off-sites.

The Tools You’ll Be Using

  • PartsOS: Our core platform.
  • Customer ERPs: SAP (ECC / S/4HANA), Microsoft Business Central, proALPHA, and others.
  • Technologies: SQL, Python, REST APIs, data exports.
  • AI Tools: Claude and AI agents to accelerate integration.
  • Collaboration Tools: HubSpot, Notion, Teamwork, Slack.
