Job Description

Due to continued demand and ambitious growth plans, Turner & Townsend is recruiting Cost Planners and Senior Cost Planners with proven experience in the Infrastructure sector (Rail, Airports, Highways, Water, or Utilities). Cost Planners at Turner & Townsend make a difference by supporting clients as embedded resources or through ad-hoc projects within the Turner & Townsend Estimating Hub. While our work is primarily for UK-based clients, remote work (from the UK) on estimating tasks for global clients is available as workload permits.

Our team provides a range of cost planning outputs to support client decision-making, including:

• Estimate Production (from Order of Magnitude to detailed first principles estimates)
• Estimating Assurance
• Estimating Support for Major Programme Setup
• Estimating Data

Responsibilities

As a Cost Planner at Turner & Townsend, you will be responsible for:

• Producing accurate and comprehensive estimates and cost plans for projects in a timely and efficient manner.
• Controlling and managing the estimating process at the project level.
• Producing estimates independently without direct supervision.
• Supporting the development and promotion of estimating best practices within Turner & Townsend.
• Assisting in the achievement of departmental objectives.
• Staying current with developments in your technical area of expertise to provide best practice advice aligned with business objectives.
• Preparing accurate and comprehensive Estimates and Cost Plans for large or complex Programmes or projects efficiently.
• Supporting the change control process for projects.
• Supporting the demonstration of Value for Money through reports and benchmarking analysis.
• Undertaking commercial assurance and negotiation of contractor offers.

Qualifications

• High-level qualification in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with proven relevant experience.
• Relevant successful experience providing estimating and/or QS services in a large project environment.
• Previous experience working with estimating software packages.
• Membership in a relevant professional body with chartered status or working towards it.
• Desirable membership of RICS / CIOB / A.CostE.
