The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate Developer Advocate to become a trusted presence within developer communities. This role is centered on contributing genuine value where developers already gather, building long-term trust and credibility. What You'll Do

Content Creation and Editorial

• Create engaging content such as practical tutorials, clear explanations, honest opinions, and real-world demos in various formats (blog posts, videos, talks).
• Serve as an editor and curator, ensuring high technical and editorial standards for internal engineers, guest contributors, and marketing colleagues.
• Produce video content, including screencasts, shorts, and explainers, to expand Metabase's educational reach.
• Develop and maintain demo projects, sample workflows, and integrations that showcase Metabase's capabilities.

Community Building

• Design and implement strategies to build, enable, and nurture the Metabase developer community through events, meetups, livestreams, courses, social media, and partnerships.
• Actively participate and provide helpful contributions in developer spaces like Slack, forums, Reddit, Discord, YouTube, Twitch, and other social platforms.
• Cultivate meaningful relationships with developers, community leaders, contributors, and power users.
• Represent Metabase at events and conferences as a knowledgeable practitioner.

Feedback and Measurement

• Gather and relay community feedback, including friction points, workarounds, and feature requests, back to the product development teams.
• Synthesize community insights and share actionable learnings with engineering, product, and marketing teams.
• Track and analyze community health and content performance metrics to assess initiative effectiveness and adjust strategies.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with data, including SQL, databases, metrics, and analytics workflows, with the ability to communicate these effectively to developers and analysts.
• Proven experience in community building across platforms like Twitter/X, YouTube, Twitch, Discord, blogs, meetups, and public speaking.
• Clear, direct, and human communication style.
• A mindset of being both a teacher and a learner, a builder and a doer.
• Empathy, inclusivity, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
• Strong judgment regarding communication and engagement.
• Ability to create content independently.
• Bonus: Contributions to or building on open-source projects.
• Bonus: Experience with embedded analytics, BI tooling, or the modern data stack.

Compensation

The US base salary range for this role is $135K–$190K annually, plus equity and benefits.
