Who We Are

The Infrastructure organization at Reddit is dedicated to ensuring Reliability, Performance, and Efficiency through a unified technology stack. The Content Platform team specifically empowers product teams to deliver exceptional content experiences by owning Tier-0 services and core data models that power fundamental user actions like viewing feeds, posting, and commenting. This team also manages R2, Reddit’s critical legacy stack.

What You’ll Do

As a Staff Engineer, you will lead the development of Reddit's Content Platform. Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing, writing, and delivering software to enhance the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Reddit’s products, primarily using Go and occasionally Python.
  • Deeply engaging with the codebase of the team's owned services and Reddit’s monolith legacy stack.
  • Implementing system-level improvements and complex code modifications.
  • Owning the design and evolution of the platform to support Reddit's growth for the next 4+ years.
  • Identifying architectural gaps and leading redesigns to boost developer velocity and enable future growth.
  • Collaborating effectively with other software engineers across Infrastructure and Product organizations.
  • Integrating storage capabilities into the broader storage infrastructure and use cases across Reddit.
  • Mentoring and guiding backend engineers across the company.

Who You Might Be

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience building internet-scale software, distributed systems, or platforms used by other developers.
  • BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Software development experience in Golang, Python, C++, or Java.
  • Proven experience with scaled, high-rate platform services and API design, with a strong understanding of critical infra systems at scale.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, successfully guiding engineering teams.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with (or strong interest in learning) Kubernetes, gRPC, Cassandra, TiDB, Redis is a significant plus.

Pay Transparency

  • The base salary range for this position is $217,000 - $303,900 USD.
  • This role is eligible for equity (RSUs) and potentially commission.
