Mongodb🌍 Remote Washington DCEstimated: $80,000 - $120,000

Join MongoDB's SRE Atlas team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer and play a pivotal role in scaling and maintaining the cutting-edge Atlas platform. If you're passionate about infrastructure, automation, and ensuring the highest levels of reliability for a leading data platform, this role offers immense growth and the chance to own significant technical challenges.

About the Role

MongoDB is seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the SRE Atlas team. This role is crucial for supporting, maintaining, and growing the Atlas platform. As a senior SRE, you will be expected to autonomously design and build complex systems, taking full ownership of your work. The SRE Atlas team focuses on providing expertise in running systems at scale, developing new tooling and automation, and performing essential maintenance for the Atlas fleet. This is a hands-on role tackling technical challenges for large-scale solutions that impact customer workloads.

Location

This role can be based in our NYC HQ on a hybrid basis, or fully remote within the Eastern or Central time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of a reliable and resilient multi-cloud platform hosting business-critical applications.
  • Collaborate with service-owning teams to provide internal support, solve technical challenges, and build generic tooling for novel use cases.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to swiftly resolve customer-facing Atlas fleet disruptions, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience running critical systems at scale.
  • A strong preference for automation over manual operations ("allergic to ops work").
  • Familiarity with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience operating in a multi-cloud environment.
  • A strong understanding of large-scale Linux environments, including low-level fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language beyond basic scripting (e.g., Go, Ruby, Python).
  • Solid understanding of web and network protocols and standards (HTTP, TLS, DNS, etc.).
  • Must be a US Citizen.
