About the Role

HackerRank is dedicated to providing companies with a reliable method to assess candidate job capabilities. As AI assistants change how candidates produce work, traditional code correctness models are becoming less effective. The Evaluation team is rebuilding the core scoring system, focusing on defining new evaluation rubrics, implementing consistent model application, collaborating with enterprise clients on performance standards, and ensuring fairness and defensibility. This critical charter is fundamental to HackerRank's business and products.

What You Will Do

• Own the Product Roadmap: Define the vision, prioritization, and strategy for the evaluation product over the next 12-18 months.
• Define "Good Evaluation": Develop product specifications for rubrics, scoring dimensions, bias safeguards, and consistency checks that enterprise customers can rely on for hiring decisions.
• Bridge Research and Execution: Collaborate directly with ML engineers and AI researchers to translate methodology into tangible product features.
• Engage with Enterprise Clients: Regularly interact with customers like Goldman Sachs to understand diverse hiring needs and ensure the product meets varied requirements.
• Build Feedback Loops: Create systems for capturing customer feedback on scores, surfacing signals to the ML team, and closing the loop on improvements.
• Define Success Metrics: Establish and own key metrics to measure and improve evaluation quality.

Who You Are

• Product Experience: 5+ years of product management experience, with significant B2B or enterprise context.
• Analytical Acumen: Ability to rigorously differentiate between meaningful metrics and vanity metrics, ensuring measures align with desired outcomes.
• Comfort with Ambiguity: Proactive in defining solutions for undefined problems, eager to discover answers rather than wait for them.
• Technical Fluency: Capable of engaging in technical discussions with ML engineers, understanding model behavior, evaluation pipelines, and data feedback loops.
• Precision in Communication: Articulate and precise in PRDs, design reviews, and customer/leadership communication.

Even Better If You Have

• Prior experience in assessment, ed-tech, talent tech, or domains involving subjective/qualitative evaluation.
• Exposure to fairness, bias, or compliance considerations in product development.
• Experience building or working with ML-powered scoring or ranking systems.
• A track record of defining new product categories.
