Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to manage the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 1,600 store partners. This critical role ensures compliance with Australian legislation, awards, and company policies, while maintaining data integrity and delivering high-quality payroll services.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing

  • End-to-end weekly payroll processing
  • Accurate calculation of wages, overtime, allowances, and deductions
  • Processing new starters, terminations, and employee changes
  • Responding to employee payroll queries (pay, leave balances, deductions)
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of employee data
  • Processing and reconciling superannuation payments
  • Preparation and lodgement of statutory reporting
  • Payroll reconciliation prior to processing
  • General Ledger reconciliation of payroll accounts
  • Investigation and resolution of discrepancies
  • Supporting payroll system improvements and upgrades

Reporting & Financial Support

  • Prepare payroll reports for finance and management
  • Assist with month-end and year-end reporting
  • Support audit requests with payroll data and documentation

Accounts Payable (Backup Support)

  • Process invoices and payments as required
  • Accurately code non-PO invoices
  • Match PO invoices
  • Manage Accounts Payable inbox queries

Qualifications

About You:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in high-volume payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Excellent numerical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and customer service mindset
  • Experience working in large organisations
  • Familiarity with ADP payroll systems
  • Exposure to Dynamics 365 Finance
  • Broader understanding of awards and enterprise agreements

We are based in Collingwood and offer an expansive end-of-trip facility with showers, concierge services including dry-cleaning and parcel collection, and an on-site Starbucks café under development. We operate on a hybrid model, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
