Senior System Support Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize incident management processes, tools, and application monitoring metrics to generate reports and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of complex application systems to debug and resolve business-impacting issues.
  • Adhere to standards and best practices to enhance system operational efficiency, stability, and availability.
  • Apply continuous delivery practices to evolve, support, and deliver high-quality software and value to end customers promptly within collaborative, value-driven teams.
  • Leverage knowledge of various logging techniques for alerting, monitoring, and root cause analysis of incidents.
  • Efficiently use DevOps tools and practices for software deployment and operation.
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced peers, sharing technical knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Apply the latest technology thinking from the firm's Technology Radar to solve client problems.

Job Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Experience with programming languages such as Java or .Net.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Powershell.
  • High-level understanding of various architectures including monolithic, N-tier, layered, microservices, and serverless.
  • Strong debugging and triaging skills for effective code troubleshooting.
  • Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with containerization tools like Docker and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Azure pipelines.
  • Experience working with relational or non-relational databases.
  • Understanding of application monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana), their associated metrics, and the ability to generate reports and take corrective actions.
  • Ability to ensure high-quality and well-tested deliverables, including bug fixes and enhancements.
  • Comfort with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum and/or Kanban.

  • Possesses strong communication and articulation skills.
  • Active presence in the external tech community, willing to share expertise through speaking engagements, open-source contributions, blogs, etc.
